TripSplit — Privacy Policy

TripSplit ("we", "our", "the app") is a trip expense management application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using TripSplit you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account.
• Login credentials: We generate a username and a 6-digit password so you can also log in without Google. You can change this password in your profile.
• Trip & expense data: Trips you create or join, members, expense amounts, descriptions, categories, and settlement information that you enter.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account and authenticate your logins.
• To provide the core features: creating trips, adding members and expenses, approvals, and calculating who-owes-whom settlements.
• To display your profile and trip information back to you and to other members of trips you belong to.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Your name and expense entries are visible to other members of trips you participate in, as required for the app to function. We do not share your data with third-party advertisers.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on our secure server and transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We take reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and trip data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us (see below).

6. Your Rights

• You can view and update your profile information within the app.
• You can request a copy or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.

7. Children's Privacy

TripSplit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
